Custom Cabinets!

YOU GUYS! I FINALLY HAVE MY CABINETS!!! AND THEY'RE GORGEOUS!!!

Okay, so since the beginning of the pandemic, EVERYONE is doing renovations, so every single builder has been (and continues to be) SWAMPED with work. After going back and forth for a couple of months with Mac from E&R Furnishings to design my cabinets, I placed my order in March, knowing they would take a few months to build. These are the drawings I created for the plans:

Mac was making the following for me: all kitchen uppers and lowers, including two Lazy Susans, a wine rack, and a pullout spice rack / pantry; a bathroom vanity; a barndoor for my bathroom; and cabinets that would span loft to loft. I was so excited to see what the end result would be!

Originally I was going to be getting my cabinets made out of alder wood (as it's lightweight yet still strong), but after choosing the stain, Mac realized that alder would show hints of orange through the stain, something I definitely didn't want, so we switched to pine. The colour I chose is called Valley Grey, and it is going to go SO well with my flooring!

Finally the day came in early August where my cabinets were READY TO INSTALL! My Dad and I went out and met with Calvin and Brad who have worked alongside E&R Furnishings for quite some time. These two guys were the epitome of friendliness, helpfulness, skill, and professionalism! Even when they had minor setbacks, they found ways to solve the issue quickly and calmly. My Dad and I ran into the city to buy handles for all the cabinets, and when we returned, Calvin and Brad even installed them all for us.

And here are the cabinets that span between the two lofts. These are dual purpose: storage PLUS the tops serve as a walkway for my dog to be able to get to the second loft. The main loft has a staircase to access it, but the other loft only has a ladder, and as smart as my dog is, she doesn't quite know how to climb a ladder. :)

There's an 8" section on top of the wheel well behind the back of the stairs before the wheel well ends (as seen in the first picture below), so this was going to be wasted space. Clearly we couldn't allow that to happen, so we came up with the idea to build a pullout spice rack / pantry here. It honestly turned out even better than I had envisioned!

I'll show pics of the bathroom vanity and barndoor once the bathroom is installed, but in the meantime, here's me with Calvin and Brad. Thanks so much to both of them, as well as to Mac from E&R Furnishings! You all did great work!
