Electrical Part Two, Plumbing Part One, and a Tiny Tub!

Updated: Jul 13, 2021

Now that the walls and ceilings are done, we could connect the pot lights, switches, and plugs. I shall NEVER run short of these in my tiny house: 13 pot lights (all on dimmers - fancy!), 2 exterior dual lights, 12 switches, and 19 plugs....haha! Huge thanks to James from Rainbow Electric for connecting everything and teaching me how it's done (I connected a couple of each myself)! Am I an electrical apprentice now??

The only outstanding electrical will be the under cabinet lighting (after the cabinets are installed), the ceiling fan (when I purchase it!), and the hood fan (after the cabinets are installed).

Tyler from Plumbing Solutions also came out and drilled the holes in the floor for the grey water: tub/shower, bathroom sink, kitchen sink, and washing machine (which I'm not actually planning on having anytime soon, but I wanted it plumbed and wired for a machine if I change my mind in the future!). To prevent my little mice friends from making a new home in MY home, we sealed up the holes with Gorilla tape until all the plumbing is all installed. There was only one hiccup: where the tub/shower drain was supposed to be was directly over the frame of the trailer hitch. So we had to move the drain over an inch. Not a huge deal, but now we had to build a one-inch thick wall next to the bathroom wall for the tub/shower surround, when it was just supposed to attach directly to the bathroom wall. Oh well - gotta be flexible!

Luckily we had lots of leftover wood that we were able to piece together for the wall. We also had to build a 4" wall at the end of the tub/shower to affix the taps/showerhead/faucet. This left only a small 11.5" space before the end of the bathroom, which will be used for shelving of towels and other bathroom stuff. We also added supports for the edges of the tub, plus a piece of plywood to the front of the tub, to which the alder wood will be attached (it's going to match my cupboards, bathroom door, and bathroom vanity). Once it's ready to install, we'll insulate around the tub with leftover rockwool so my baths stay nice and hot!

ISN'T THIS THE CUTEST TINY TUB YOU'VE EVER SEEN???? I'M SO IN LOVE WITH IT! I know it's little, but just being able to soak in hot water with a glass of wine while reading a good book is my idea of heaven! I'm only 5'1", so really, I don't need a big tub! It's gonna be so perfect (for me...haha!).
