Preparing for Spray Cork

Very early on in the tiny house planning, I discovered a product at a trade show that I just ~knew~ I had to use: Thermal Cork Shield. Innovative Cork is the only company in Manitoba using this amazing technology, and it's been a joy working with them on this application. Thermal Cork Shield is ground-up cork that is mixed with a natural resin to bind it together, then sprayed onto any surface using an air compressor. Its benefits include thermal insulation, water barrier, sound dampening, fire retardant, completely breathable, flexible, durable, lightweight, environmentally friendly, energy efficient, and it looks great!

Before application, we needed to mask off all the areas that I didn't want cork applied: windows, outlets, wires, fenders, and floors. A big thanks to Randy and Amber from Innovative Cork with your help in this process!

After we completed the masking, we decided to move the house into the other shed, so that we didn't have to worry about over-spray. This meant - for the first time - we were moving the tiny house!!! We took down the jacks, hitched it up to the tractor, and took the house on its maiden voyage across the yard! I was thrilled at several factors: the wheels held the weight of the house, the house cleared the overhead door, none of the windows fell out, and nothing broke! I guess we've done a good job so far...!

Here's a video of the move (sped up x 4 - we didn't want to rush anything!) - thanks so much Uncle Bert, Dad, and Auntie Connie!!! How exciting!
