Roofing & Door

We allowed the spray cork to dry for a few days, then we took the masking off. Look at how beautiful it is!!!

Next we added the roofing. Huge thanks to Donny at Stevens Lumber in Fannystelle for being able to order in the metal roof in literally two days! I chose a metal roof, as I want to be able to harvest rain water. I went with Domtek's Pro-Rib 28-gauge metal roofing. We put ice & water guard down first, then screwed the 3-foot panels down every 16 inches. We unfortunately overlooked the fact that we should've put the bottom flashing down first, so we added extra work for ourselves by having to add this after the fact. So add it to the list of errors we won't make on our next project...haha!

Next was the door. You may have seen a pic of the door in an earlier post, but we decided to take it off until the spray corking was done. This also gave me time to paint it and add the handle and lock. What goes better with a gun metal grey exterior than a red door??? Big thanks to Jamie for gifting me some exterior red paint, of which we applied three coats. Once it was dry, Auntie Connie and I added the hardware, then my Dad and Jimmy hung the door, while Uncle Bert got the tractor ready to haul it outside.

Now that my house has a roof and a door, it can live outside! Thanks Uncle Bert and Auntie Connie for allowing me to work on my house in the comfort and safety of your shop for the past couple of years! Hopefully it won't take as long to finish the interior...! Haha!

I absolutely love it - it's looking so great; I'm very impressed. And the door is perfect; it's ideal for Dasi to look out the bottom window.
